About this section

Word Knowledge measures your vocabulary: you pick the word closest in meaning to an underlined word, sometimes shown in a sentence. It is one of the two verbal subtests in the AFQT, so it directly affects your enlistment-qualifying score.

These 9 lessons focus on methods you can use on words you have never seen. They start with a core synonym method and context clues, then break words apart through prefixes, suffixes and Greek and Latin roots. Further lessons cover multiple-meaning words, connotation and precision, and vocabulary by word families, and the last one practices timed elimination so you can move quickly through WK questions.

Pair the lessons with daily reading and short review sessions, since a wider vocabulary builds slowly over weeks rather than overnight. Each lesson closes with a lesson test so you can check that the strategy sticks.
