About this section
Paragraph Comprehension gives you short passages followed by questions about what they say and what they imply. Along with Word Knowledge, it forms the verbal half of the AFQT, so reading accuracy here counts toward your qualifying score.
There are 9 lessons in this category. The first ones teach the question types you will see most often: main idea, supporting details and inference. Next come sequence, cause and effect, author purpose and point of view, and words and phrases in context. The final lessons cover compare and contrast, passage organization, and timed evidence-based reading, where you practice finding the line that proves your answer under time pressure.
Read every passage actively and check each answer against the text. A lesson test follows each lesson so you can confirm the skill before moving on.
